SUPPORTING

Our Community

ALC Antiques & Jewelry in Our Community

At ALC Antiques & Jewelry, we are honoured to be a part of the community that has shaped who we are. Our passion extends far beyond the world of antiques and jewelry — it’s about connection, preservation, and giving back. From collaborating with local museums and galleries to help celebrate our shared history, to supporting the causes closest to our hearts — BC Children’s Hospital, faith-based organizations, and the homeless community in Victoria — we are deeply committed to making a positive impact. Being part of this community is not just a privilege, it’s the heart of everything we do.

ROYAL BC MUSEUM

Honouring History Through Preservation

When it comes to acquiring and finding a home for pieces that truly belong in a museum — to be appreciated by many — we take great pride in helping them reach their rightful place. In our industry, we occasionally encounter items whose cultural or historical significance extends far beyond private collections. Museums play a vital role in preserving our shared history, allowing these treasures to be studied, celebrated, and remembered. We are grateful to contribute, even in a small way, to that mission — and are proud to have the Royal BC Museum as part of our community.

VICTORIA ART GALLERY

Preserving History Through Museums and Galleries

When it comes to discovering a piece that truly belongs in a museum — something meant to be appreciated by many — we take great pride in helping it find its rightful home. In our industry, we occasionally come across items whose historical or cultural significance extends far beyond private ownership. Museums and galleries play an essential role in preserving our shared history, ensuring that these treasures are accessible for generations to come. We are honoured to contribute, in our own small way, to this mission — and are especially grateful to have institutions like the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria as part of our community.

Welcome to the Sacred Cedar Centre – Xe”Xe Xpay Lelum

At the Sacred Cedar Centre, you’ll be welcomed by Fred Roland (Hwiemtun) — a kind, genuine, and deeply compassionate presence whose warmth immediately makes you feel at home. What Fred has built within his community is far more than a healing space; it is a place of unity, understanding, and respect where Indigenous traditions and teachings are preserved and shared with all.

This is not your average wellness centre — it is raw, powerful, and profoundly moving. Through sweat lodge ceremonies, sound healing sessions, and deeply spiritual gatherings, the Sacred Cedar Centre offers healing that reaches the very core of your being. It is a place that redefines what it means to be human while remaining wholeheartedly authentic to its Indigenous roots, culture, and spirit. A truly life-changing experience.

THE HAND OF MAN MUSEUM

Museum of Natural History, Cultural Arts & Conservation

The Hand of Man Museum is so much more than a museum — it’s an experience that truly humbles and inspires. Created by Jim Shockey, a name widely recognized in the hunting and outdoor community, this incredible space reflects a lifetime of passion for collecting, storytelling, and preserving culture. To call Jim a collector would be an understatement — he has amassed an extraordinary array of artifacts, art, and natural wonders that now fill the museum he built himself.

What makes the Hand of Man Museum truly unique is its interactive, hands-on approach. Visitors are encouraged to touch, learn, and connect with the pieces — creating a sense of wonder that traditional museums rarely offer. Jim’s warmth, humour, and generosity make every visit personal and unforgettable. He has given his community a space that is both educational and deeply moving — a museum that reminds us of the beauty of curiosity, humanity, and shared experience.

MCFD

A Second Chance

Ministry Of Children & Family Development

Foster care is something very near and dear to our hearts, and its impact on our lives has been deeply personal. There are countless children who are still waiting — children who need stability, safety, and someone to simply call home. The need for foster parents is ongoing and urgent, and the role they play can shape the course of a child’s life in the most meaningful way.

By continuing to support foster families, foster programs, and the courageous children within them, we help create the foundations for healing, belonging, and new beginnings. Every child deserves the chance to feel safe, valued, and supported as they grow. Together, we can ensure that those spaces of love and stability continue to exist — and continue to expand — for the children who need them most.

BC CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL

Healing Hearts, One Child At A Time

The Children’s Hospital holds a deeply personal place in our hearts. We understand, firsthand, the importance of the care, compassion, and dedication shown by the doctors, nurses, staff, and every person who contributes to creating a safe and hopeful environment for the children and families who need it most. Their work is not only vital — it is immeasurable.

We believe in continuing to support this incredible community of care. By standing together — whether through donations, advocacy, volunteerism, or simply sharing awareness — we help ensure that every child receives the comfort, treatment, and hope they deserve. We invite you to be a part of that ongoing support, so that the Children’s Hospital can continue making a lasting difference in the lives of families today, and for generations to come.

OUR PLACE

Homeless In Our Community

Supporting our homeless community is something we hold with great compassion and respect. At the end of the day, we are all human. Some of us have simply lost our way, faced circumstances we did not choose, or walked through seasons of life that were heavier than most could carry alone.

Organizations like Our Place Society — along with the countless volunteers and individuals who give their time, resources, and care — create a space where dignity is restored and humanity is honoured. These efforts are built not from recognition or reward, but from genuine, selfless compassion. Every act of kindness, no matter how small, carries an impact. It is the intention of the heart that matters most.

Warm meals — something as simple as dinner on a cold day — can bring comfort, connection, and hope. There is something profoundly meaningful about nourishment shared without judgment.

We are deeply grateful for the staff and volunteers who show up every day with patience, understanding, and humanity. Their dedication reminds us what community truly is.

We encourage everyone to be part of this ongoing support — to show up for those who may not have the same stability, resources, or opportunities that we do. When we care for one another, we strengthen the very fabric of our community. Together, we can ensure that no one is left behind, unseen, or forgotten.

FAITH-BASED COMMUNITIES

Bringing one another together

We can’t speak of just one of these community — because churches, in their truest form, are not simply places of preaching. They are places of belonging. They are spaces where people can return when they feel lost, uncertain, or in need of guidance. Times have changed, and with that change has come a renewed openness: there is always someone ready to welcome you, no matter where you are in life.

From Sunday services to community outreach, fundraisers, and volunteer support, churches continue to be a foundation of connection and care. They are ever-evolving with the needs of the world, becoming more inclusive, compassionate, and understanding — places where everyone can feel seen, valued, and accepted.

Many churches go beyond spiritual support, offering shelter, warm meals, clothing, and resources for those experiencing homelessness or hardship. They remind us that faith is not just spoken — it is lived through compassion, service, and care for one another.

We believe in supporting these continued efforts of community and hospitality. When we come together — regardless of background — we strengthen the heart of what community truly means.

SPCA

Because Every Animal Deserves A Home

The SPCA plays a vital role in giving animals a second chance at life. Many pets find themselves without a home through no fault of their own — and the SPCA provides them with safety, shelter, medical care, and patience while they wait for a family to call their own. It is a place where fear can soften, trust can return, and healing can begin.

Every animal deserves love, comfort, and the chance to belong. The SPCA, along with its dedicated staff and volunteers, works tirelessly to ensure that these animals are cared for with dignity and compassion until they can transition into a new, loving home.

By supporting the SPCA — whether through adoption, fostering, volunteering, donations, or simply spreading awareness — we help open the door to brighter futures. Together, we create a world where animals are not forgotten or left behind, but welcomed, valued, and loved.

Small Business

Shaping Our Community

Small businesses are the heartbeat of our communities. They are built on hard work, passion, and the courage to create something meaningful — often with no guarantees, no safety nets, and no shortcuts. Behind every small business is a family, a dream, a sacrifice, and a story of perseverance.

When we choose to support small businesses, we are not just making a purchase — we are strengthening the foundation of our neighbourhoods. We are helping local families thrive, keeping our communities diverse and vibrant, and ensuring that the character, creativity, and personal connection of our towns and cities continue to grow.

Small businesses employ our neighbours, support local causes, sponsor kids’ sports teams, host community events, donate to charities, and show up when our communities need them most. Their impact is deeply personal and deeply local.

By choosing small — whether through shopping local, attending community markets, or simply spreading the word — we help keep opportunity alive. We help keep dreams alive. And we help ensure that communities remain places where people are seen, known, and valued.
