USPAP Adherence Statement
ALC Antiques & Jewelry
At ALC Antiques & Jewelry, we uphold the highest ethical and professional standards in all appraisal and evaluation services.
As a business guided by the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), we are committed to conducting our work with integrity, impartiality, and due diligence — ensuring our clients receive fair, transparent, and credible assessments at all times.
Professional Integrity
Our appraisals are performed in accordance with USPAP’s ethical obligations, emphasizing independence, objectivity, and professional judgment.
Each valuation is based solely on verifiable market data, research, and professional expertise — free from bias, influence, or conflict of interest.
We never allow personal interest, external pressure, or compensation structure to affect the outcome of an appraisal.
Confidentiality
All information shared with ALC Antiques & Jewelry during the appraisal or consultation process is treated with the strictest confidentiality.
Client data, documentation, and private communications are securely maintained and disclosed only when required by law or with written client consent.
Competency
Our team performs appraisals only within the scope of our education, training, and experience.
We continually refine our professional knowledge through recognized organizations and industry courses, including institutions such as:
- Sotheby’s Institute of Art (SIA)
- Canadian Personal Property Appraisers Group (CPPAG)
- Asheford Institute of Antiques (AIA)
- International Society of Appraisers (ISA)
- International Gemological Society (IGS)
By maintaining active professional development, we ensure that each valuation reflects current market trends and industry standards.
Scope of Work
Each appraisal assignment begins with a clearly defined scope of work, determined by the purpose of the appraisal (e.g., insurance, estate, resale, donation, or fair market value).
This ensures that the resulting report meets USPAP’s Standard 7 and 8 requirements, where applicable, and provides sufficient detail to support the value conclusion.
Record Keeping
In compliance with USPAP, ALC Antiques & Jewelry maintains comprehensive records for all appraisal assignments.
This includes documentation of research, comparables, photographs, correspondence, and valuation methodology.
Records are retained for a minimum of five (5) years or two (2) years after final judicial disposition, whichever period is longer.
Objectivity and Impartiality
We are committed to neutral and transparent evaluations, ensuring that every item is assessed based on its intrinsic characteristics, market performance, and comparable sales data — not by client expectation or external influence.
Our appraisers are ethically bound to provide opinions of value that are unbiased, evidence-based, and defensible.
Compliance and Continuing Education
ALC Antiques & Jewelry strictly adheres to USPAP’s current edition and updates its procedures to reflect changes made by The Appraisal Foundation.
We pursue ongoing education to ensure compliance with evolving legal, ethical, and procedural standards that govern the personal property appraisal profession.
Client Trust
Our business is built upon trust, professionalism, and a deep respect for our clients and their collections.
By adhering to USPAP, we affirm our dedication to delivering appraisals that are credible, well-documented, and ethically sound, providing peace of mind and confidence in every transaction.
